Hi, I'm Sarah

I grew up in a small town in Ohio in a house where the kitchen was always the loudest room. My grandmother, June, ran it like a command center: Sunday pot roast, summer tomato sauce canned by the dozen jars, and cookies cooling on every flat surface in December. I spent most of my childhood on a step stool next to her, cracking eggs (badly at first) and asking "why" about everything. Why do you rest the dough? Why does the onion go in first? She didn't always know the science, but she always knew the answer that worked.

When I moved out for college, I realized how little of that knowledge I had actually written down. My first attempts at her recipes were humbling: gummy biscuits, a pot roast that could double as a doorstop, and a memorable smoke-alarm incident with a cast iron pan. So I started keeping notebooks — what I changed, what failed, and what finally worked.

From notebooks to Flavor Feast Kitchen

For more than fifteen years I cooked for a busy family of four while working full time in a hospital administration office. Weeknights were chaos, budgets were tight, and one of my kids went through a two-year phase of eating only "beige food." Those years taught me what most recipe sites forget: people don't just need a list of ingredients, they need recipes that fit real schedules, real budgets, and real picky eaters.

Friends and coworkers kept asking for my notes, so I started typing them up. Those pages became Flavor Feast Kitchen — a place for tested recipes, clear technique guides, and honest opinions about the gear that actually earns space on your counter.

How every recipe gets made

  • Tested at least three times in a standard home kitchen with a regular oven and everyday equipment — no restaurant tricks.
  • Measured both ways: cups and grams, with temperatures and timing noted, plus visual cues so you're not just watching the clock.
  • Food safety first: internal temperatures and storage times follow USDA and FDA guidance.
  • Nutrition estimates are calculated from USDA FoodData Central and labeled as estimates.
  • Updated over time: when readers find a better method or something stops working, we revise the post.

Who we cook for

Busy professionals who need dinner in 30 minutes, parents feeding picky eaters, meal-preppers stretching a grocery budget, curious cooks who want to understand why a technique works, and anyone trying to eat a little healthier without giving up flavor.
